Project Overview

Austin Water serves over 1 million customers in the Austin area, with a system of over 4,000 miles of waterlines and 3,000 miles of wastewater. To remain reliable today and prepare for tomorrow, Austin Water works constantly to improve the system. Updates include everything from pipeline replacement to pressure zone enhancements, and we are pleased to bring the Guildford Cove Boosted Pressure Zone Waterline Improvements Project to the Long Canyon area.

Through this project, Austin Water will install 7,500 linear feet of new water mains in the part of the Long Canyon neighborhood served by the Guildford Cove Water System. These new lines are sixteen inches in diameter. They will be installed next to the existing waterlines, which are six and eight inches in diameter. Since the new lines are bigger in diameter, they will carry an increased volume of water, which will increase the system’s water capacity in Long Canyon.

The new lines will be installed along Guildford Cove, Leaning Rock Circle, Bell Mountain Drive, and Cuesta Trail, as seen on the map below. In addition, some existing fire hydrants will be removed and replaced with new hydrants. The new hydrants will be connected to the larger water main.
