Austin Parks and Recreation Projects

Austin Parks and Recreation is initiating a planning process for both Heritage Oaks Neighborhood Park and Woodland Pocket Park together due to their close proximity. City Council Districts 3 and 9

The concept plan for Highland Neighborhood Park was completed in 2017. Phase 2 was completed and opened to the public in Summer 2024, and a new pedestrian bridge was completed in Spring 2025. City Council District 4

Austin Parks and Recreation is partnering with The Trail Conservancy to improve the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail. City Council District 3

The Holly Shores-Edward Rendo Sr. Park at Festival Beach Vision Plan was approved by City Council on August 28, 2014. Improvements to the park based on the vision plan continue to be phased in. City Council District 3

Jamestown Neighborhood Park is an undeveloped park in north Austin. Austin Parks Foundation awarded design services to the community to help create a concept plan. The plan was adopted in September 2025. City Council District 4

The Joan Means Khabele Bathhouse Rehabilitation is a major task identified in the 2009 Barton Springs Master Plan and further outlined in the 2016 Zilker Bathhouse Zone Feasibility Study. City Council District 8

The vision plan for John Treviño Jr. Metropolitan Park at Morrison Ranch was adopted by Austin City Council on October 15, 2020. Phase 1 Implementation of the vision plan is in design. City Council Districts 1 and 2

Austin Parks Foundation partnered with Austin Parks and Recreation to develop a new trailhead, play area, and dog off-leash area off Springdale Road. The trailhead and play area are open to the public! City Council District 1

Austin Parks and Recreation replaced the existing playscape at Metz Neighborhood Park to provide enhanced opportunities for play. This project is complete and open to the public! City Council District 3
