Schedule an Appointment with the Permitting and Development Center (PDC)

The City of Austin Permitting and Development Center (PDC) offers appointments to help answer some of your development and permitting questions. The select work groups below provide virtual and in-person appointments. Appointments are not available for all permitting and development services.

  • Virtual (video or phone) appointments are hosted on Microsoft Teams. Two options will be provided to you in a confirmation email: a link and a phone number. You may use your computer or mobile device with the link to use video or share screens, or you can call the conference phone number using just your phone for a voice-only option.
  • In-person appointments are at the PDC, 6310 Wilhelmina Delco Drive, Austin (See Map). Appointments are subject to parking fees for visits more than 30 minutes if you park in the PDC parking garage.
  • If you have already submitted an application, please work directly with the staff assigned to your case.
  • Inspections - This page contains appointments for questions about inspections. If you are scheduling an inspection, visit the Inspections webpage. (To schedule a building or trade inspection, visit the Schedule a Building Inspection webpage.)

Appointments

  • Walk-in Appointments: Walk-in appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. for Building Plan Review, Building and Trade Contractor Services (BTCS), Land Use Assistance, Land Use Review, Community Trees, and Public Projects. Simply check in with the reception desk when you arrive.

The Address Management Services team is the addressing authority for the City of Austin and Travis County. Appointments are available for general, site plan, and subdivision addressing questions.

Appointments are available with Austin Water for questions about utility permitting, industrial waste plan review, and utility development services.

For specific industrial waste questions related to a project, grease interceptor, wastewater discharge permit, sampling ports, pump-outs, inspections, Industrial Waste (IW) approval letters or Central Prep Kitchen Permit numbers, please email IndustrialWaste@austintexas.gov.

Appointments are available with Building and Trade Contractor Services for general questions about contractor registration, stand-alone permits, and activating permits for commercial and residential properties not related to plan review.

Commercial Plan Review/Building Permits

Appointments are available with the Commercial Intake and Plan Review teams for commercial and multi-family (more than 2 units) properties to answer questions regarding application submissions, plan review requirements, site plan corrections/exemptions, and technical building codes. Appointments are not for submitting an application.

To meet with staff for more than 20 minutes to discuss rejection comments, preliminary designs, or code issues/interpretations, please see the optional, fee-based meetings listed in the table.

If specific code interpretation questions are to be discussed, please ensure the professional designer attends the appointment.

Ask the Commercial Intake team questions about the commercial building permit application, required documents and forms, submission requirements, and the commercial review process.

Preliminary Plan Review Meeting

Get an optional, fee-based meeting with plan reviewers before submitting an application to discuss preliminary design or code issues that need to be addressed before construction plans are submitted for permit review.

Plan Review Consultation Meeting

Get an optional, fee-based meeting during the review process or on an active permit that needs more than 20 minutes to discuss rejection comments with your specific reviewer. (No approvals or design changes are given in this meeting.)

Trees/City Arborist

Appointments are available with the City Arborist team for general questions related to Tree Ordinance compliance on zoning, site plan, subdivision, and residential projects, including site plan exemption and site plan correction (for projects not yet submitted). 

This informal discussion is not for on-site visits or field assessments of your project, and formal permit documentation will not be provided or processed during this appointment.
