Heads up! Next time you find yourself in the Barbara Jordan Terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), be sure to look up around Gate 15, and you will see it—a new, beautiful art installation created by the world-renowned Austin-based artist, Beili Liu.

Convergence / Austin is a site-responsive public art installation that is meant to reflect and signify the purpose, growth, and excellence of AUS. The artwork spans 16 feet by 12 feet into the high bay triangle area in the terminal and has approximately 400 vertical strands holding 3,200 elements that uphold this permanent installation, which was commissioned for AUS through the …

The Barbara Jordan Terminal at AUS is often buzzing with iconic local music, but on September 23, that was especially the case as the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians’ (HAAM) Day 20th anniversary celebration was in full swing, featuring five different artists for passengers to enjoy throughout the day.

HAAM Day, the world’s largest one-day, all-local music festival, featured more than 250 performances at over 105 venues across Austin by more than 300 local musicians in less than 24 hours. In this installment of Behind the Takeoff, we’re introducing you to Kyle Carvell, AUS’s Airport Relations Officer. His journey with the City of Austin spans over 15 years and reflects his passion for communication, public service, and now, aviation.

From Internship to Impact
